My review on TripAdvisor:
I found Chefski’s Polish Home Cooking in a rather unusual way. The President of Poland was visiting the United States and Wallington, NJ where the restaurant is located has one of the biggest Polish populations in the country. This was one of the restaurants mentioned in a long list of businesses that was recommended to visit at that time.
The restaurant is located in a small strip mall (the original Chefski’s closed in 2023)
I finally got a chance to visit the restaurant a few months later and was very impressed by the food, service, portion sizes and prices. The restaurant is a small place located in a strip mall next to a busy intersection. Not the fanciest place and with only a few tables, Chefski’s has a really busy take out business.
The inside is nice but plain
I stopped in and ordered the Combination Pierogi Sampler ($8.25) which were twelve freshly made on premise pierogi that were filled with potatoes, mushrooms, pork, beef and chicken and were fried in butter and onions and served with sour cream. Each one was like a little bite of heaven. They were perfectly cooked and loaded with filling. I highly recommend trying them.
The pierogi combination is light as air
For dessert, I had another order of pierogi this time filled with blueberries ($7.25) and again perfectly cooked and I topped them with cinnamon sugar. They were plump and filled with juicy blueberries.
At the next table I saw people eating the chicken cutlets with mashed potatoes ($12.99) that looked really good. Two nice sized breaded chicken cutlets fresh out of the fryer served with a large portion of mashed potatoes. That seemed popular with people.
The Chicken cutlet special looked really good
At another table I saw people eating Potato Pancakes ($11.00) that were served with a large portion of sour cream. These were also cooked in oil and fried to a golden brown.
The menu:
What I liked about the menu is that nothing is over $10.00 and during the lunch hour they have a lunch special that is $8.00 with an entree and a side with soup. I thought that sounded very fair.
Another unique feature is that I was the only person eating there who spoke English. The rest of the customers spoke Polish. It made the trip interesting.
