NoHo Juice Bar & Deli at 208 Mercer Street

When I started a new class at NYU, I came across this little deli/juice bar across the street from our new building on Mercer Street. The deli has been here for years and now that the new building has opened, it has become more popular with the students.

What I like about NoHo Juice Bar & Deli is that the prices are really reasonable, the hours fit into my schedule when I am attending classes and the food is really good. Their portion sizes are very generous which is perfect for starving college students.

The selection of sandwiches and desserts at NoHo Juice Bar & Deli

Their sandwiches are really good and nicely sized. Everything on the menu is so fresh and made in house. The first time I ate there, a had a Chicken Salad sandwich on a hard roll that had been toasted. The chicken salad was nice sized chunks of chicken breast and a delicious mayo dressing ($8.95).

What is nice about their sandwiches are the rolls are really fresh and chewy. When they are toasted, it makes a nice base for a sandwich.

Recently right before we a speaker come to class, stopped in and scanned the menu for something different but a little more filling because it was going to be a long class that evening. I saw the Hugh Cosby sandwich on the menu ($8.95), which was a chicken cutlet that was cooked with a topping of bacon, lettuce and tomato and topped with a honey mustard sauce. It was excellent.

The Hugh Crosby Chicken Sandwich

It was a nice combination of flavors and was a filling sandwich, perfect before the long night of class.

I had a Chicken Parmesan Sandwich but somehow they mixed it up and gave me a wrap. No matter because it was delicious and the flavors of the sauce and cheese was a nice combination of tastes. They did a nice job on it. It was chopped breaded chicken breast instead of a whole filet (probably to fit into the wrap) and then they pressed it. I really enjoy coming here before my Monday night class.

The wrap was really filled with chicken and fresh tomato sauce

I highly recommend the Chicken Parm on a cold night as it was filling and it will really warm you up. The sauce is well spiced and has a nice flavor to it.

I was having dinner before my Midterm the other week and I stopped in for a Chopped Cheese Sandwich. Normally I would not try one below 98th Street but I was starved and needed something substantial before my exam.

The sandwich was served on a hard roll that had been toasted and tucked inside was a chopped cheese burger with lettuce, tomato, onion and bit of shredded lettuce topped with a little mayo and seasonings.

Their Chopped Cheese is excellent!

I swear they are in competition with Moe’s Grocery and Blue Sky Deli in East Harlem. The sandwich was excellent. The sandwich was $8.00 and worth every bit.

The service is always friendly and they are very quick with their orders which is perfect for students on the go.
